Lib Dems are looking to end the highway robbery being carried out by Conservatives – and do more to improve our roads!
Over the last 11 years of Tory rule at County Hall the Conservatives have more than DOUBLED the Council Tax from £474 to £1,027.
Inflation over the same period has been 25%. You’d expect a Rolls Royce service for the price we are paying, instead we have a battered mini.
And even that is being driven along roads that have been left potholed and pitted by years of Conservative neglect.
We will:
§ Improve funding for roads and paths
§ Invest in the Youth Service to tackle anti-social behaviour.
§ Stop above-inflation increases in the price of school meals
§ Save £500,000 a year by stopping the County Council’s North Yorkshire Times
Other measures on our shopping list include providing more cycle paths and extending winter gritting to all school routes.
And we will review the creation of huge council contracts that make it virtually impossible for small local firms to compete against national companies.
It’s more important than ever that the council preserves and generates local jobs.
This is a two horse race – only the Lib Dems can beat the Tories.
